6-Hour Tri-Tip Marinade

Ingredients

  • 2 tri-tip roasts, trimmed
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup soybean oil
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup black pepper
  • 1/2 cup garlic salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried onions
Directions

To make the marinade, mix all of the ingredients except for the beef in a large mixing bowl. Place the trimmed tri-tips in a plastic container and pour the marinade over. Let stand in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours.

Preheat grill. Remove tri-tips from bowl and place on hot grill. Turn after two minutes and grill for 2 more minutes. Turn down heat or move to a cooler part of the grill. Grill for another 4 minutes per side then continue grilling over indirect heat.

Continue cooking until done, about 15 more minutes. When done, remove the tri-tip from the grill and allow to rest for 5 minutes. Cut tri-tip into strips and serve.
